Networking at the Gym

Posted by Judy Anne Cavey on January 14, 2010

Quick TipsDon’t discount the networking connections at your local gym. As you walk on the treadmill, pump iron in the weight room, or knock yourself out in boxing aerobics, don’t forget to network!

The gym offers many opportunities to meet new people and strike up a conversation. When you ask what someone does, you might find that they are in your particular field. Take this cue and let them know you both have that in common. Find out if they have the ability to assist you in passing your resume along to the right person. No harm in asking if they know of any openings. Better yet, see if they know the current needs of the company and find a way to fill those needs. Don’t forget to thank the new networking connection for their assistance and keep them posted on your progress in pursuing a position.
